I first fell in love with teaching English while on a mission for my church. I helped many people with their English as they adjusted to life in the USA and tried to get jobs, which often required a certain amount of English. I was also learning Spanish at the time (and still am), so I'm well aware just how hard it is to learn another language!
When I came home, I wanted more. I got a teaching English certificate and then became a volunteer for the English Skills Learning Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. I've loved the people I have met through this program. Not only have we studied English, but we've celebrated birthdays and holidays together and expanded our community. Now I want to offer my services to those who want even more English practice.

Since January 2025, I have been taking English classes with Professor Brooke. I started with very little knowledge of English, I was afraid to communicate, and I didn't understand anything. Today I am very happy because, thanks to the strategies and content that Professor Brooke uses, I can now communicate at my job, in stores, and restaurants. I can understand the weather, parts of the human body, and symptoms of some illnesses. I know numbers, the alphabet and its sounds, clothing and shoe sizes, and I can use public transportation: bus, plane, bicycle, and train. I also know and can use the US monetary system, as well as the names of household utensils, especially those used in the kitchen. I've learned about holidays, North American culture, values of respect, and the names of foods such as vegetables, dairy products, proteins, grains, and cereals, as well as adjectives to describe people, things, and animals. It's important to mention that Professor Brooke used excellent audiovisual resources to teach me, such as videos, printed handouts, dialogues, a computer, and group activities, among others. Thank you for teaching me every day; I appreciate it very much because I now feel much more confident communicating, reading, and writing English everywhere.

I really enjoy learning English with my teacher. The lessons are clear, patient, and easy to understand, even for beginners. She explains things step by step and always makes me feel comfortable asking questions. I've become more confident speaking English and I actually look forward to class. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to improve their English in a supportive and friendly environment. I am especially in need of learning English this way because I am a newly settled immigrant in the United States. Studying with this curriculum means learning English to integrate into everyday life, not simply to earn a certificate. Throughout the learning process, I have observed that her teaching is very easy to understand and remember, thanks to group practice activities and short games that help reinforce vocabulary and lesson content. In my opinion, only teachers who have been trained in a strong educational environment can develop such an effective and engaging teaching approach.
